Meet the Team

  • When it comes to a challenge, I’ve always been the one to push the limits. As a fourth-generation sailor & mariner, my family's deep-seated maritime tradition has laid the foundation for my passion for the sea. My love for maritime studies only deepens my connection to the ocean, fueling my desire to explore and share this passion with those close to me. From the salty decks of tall ships, where my maritime career began at a young age, I learned the ropes of traditional sailing vessels. Starting as a ship's cook learning and adapting the skills at every opportunity which naturally lead to deckhand/bosun. Eventually becoming one of the youngest female skippers in the Whitsundays, operating multiple sailing charters for several years.

From sailing the Great Barrier Reef to the dry iron red desert of the Pilbara coast of Western Australia, where i currently work the decks of 32m Rotor Tugs, in one of the busiest bulk export ports in the world. My experience includes shipping 300m bulk carriers in and out of port and operating and maintaining world-class tugs. Over five years in towage, I have continuously sought to grow and upskill nationally and internationally. Now a Master IV mariner, I've been selected for training to become a Tug Master, which is soon to commence.

I have a love for traditional timber boats and found a beautiful little 33ft sailing yacht of my own in 2021, which I enjoy sailing and exploring in my free time, i will be aiming to tick off another race in 2025 by entering into the famous Sydney to Hobart sailing race with my sister.

  • In 2011, I embarked on an incredible journey, traveling through America, Fiji, New Zealand, and finally, Australia. Originally from Scotland, I immediately fell in love with the Australian environment, way of life, and most importantly, its people. My strong connection to the ocean led me to pursue a bachelor's degree in marine science. While in Australia, I furthered my education by becoming a Master Reef Guide and earning my Master 5 qualification. These accomplishments have allowed me to continue my work in the Whitsunday Islands, where I educate and inspire tourists from around the world about the importance of protecting our oceans, particularly the Great Barrier Reef, which I consider my backyard.

I currently skipper an 11m Naiad around the Whitsunday Islands and am deeply involved with the Eye on the Reef program, monitoring changes in the reef. This work is meticulously documented and contributes to the official reporting on the reef's health and the impacts of human activity and global warming. I am passionate about educating people on better practices and how small changes can make a significant positive impact on our oceans.

  • My passion for wildlife and outback Australia has taken me on some wild adventures throughout my career. After studying Zoology, I worked as a zookeeper specializing in exotic reptiles and arachnids, even milking funnel web spiders for the lifesaving antivenin program. I then began to travel outback Australia and fell in love with the lifestyle, transitioning into naturalist guiding. I specialize in bush tucker and survival, showcasing some of the most remote corners of Australia through luxury lodges. I’ve led camel treks through Uluru, worked as a Ranger in the Kimberley, rehabilitated birds of prey on Kangaroo Island, driven vessels on the Great Barrier Reef, and led tours on Christmas Island for the red crab migration. My work and personal life have been nothing short of adventurous! I’ve volunteered in Borneo rehabilitating orphaned orangutans, worked in Thailand with rescue elephants, and back home in Australia with dolphins and sea turtles. The Northern Territory is where I call home, my days filled with airboats and helicopters exploring the floodplains, barramundi fishing, and working with saltwater crocodiles. It was here that my interest in helicopters was piqued, which led me to begin my studies in aviation. I graduated as a commercial helicopter pilot and landed my first role taking guests on scenic flights over the Bungle Bungle in the Kimberley. My adventure-seeking career has taken me to the most spectacular parts of Australia, but my heart lies in the Kimberley. The rugged terrain, untouched landscapes, freshwater swimming holes, waterfalls, indigenous culture, and wildlife keep me coming back to the region time and time again. I am incredibly grateful to have such a passion for life, for adventure, and for wildlife, and to be able to build a career around that passion, sharing my love of the natural world with people from all walks of life.

  • I'm Charlie, a 32-year-old Australian with a lifelong connection to the ocean, which I've turned into my career. Before my current position as operations manager of an Indigenous distribution business, I spent a decade working as a deckhand and dive instructor. My early days in Airlie Beach were where I met Fiona, Ena, and Karla, as we all worked for the same company, exploring the stunning Whitsundays. Following my Master 5 certification, I ventured into the world of super yachts, a journey that took me around the globe and enriched my knowledge in the maritime industry.

Since my return to Perth, I've settled into a workplace that challenges me, allows for growth, and, importantly, provides support. Committing to the World's Toughest Row has been a pivotal moment in my life, reigniting my passion, bolstering my mental health, and reconnecting me with a significant part of my identity. I'm thrilled to take on this adventure with three of the most incredible women by my side.
